In the local election of 2019 I campaigned on the removal of the speed humps on South Terrace.
The speed humps were temporary until the Main Roads approved the 40km on the road.
With the installation of the 40km signage last month. It is mission accomplished. I moved a motion for the removal of the speed humps by September 2021. The motion was lost; however an alternative recommendation was put to Wednesday’s Council Meeting.
“Note that the implementation of the new streetscape nodes to South Terrace allows the gradual removal of the temporary speed cushions and that when node 2 at the intersection of Jenkin Street commences this year, it will allow the removal of four of the temporary speed cushions”.
The recommendation is a compromise and one that I supported. We can look forward to less speed humps on South Terrace.
